APC KVM Switch - Server Switch - KVM

Server switches designed to increase system availability and manageability

In situations where multiple PC Servers are used, APC KVM switches provide the ability to reduce hardware costs, reduce energy consumption costs, reduce air conditioning costs, and save valuable space in the datacenter. This is accomplished by eliminating the need for a keyboard, monitor, and mouse dedicated to each server. By allowing for one centralized point of control for up to 64 servers, APC KVM switches truly provide a solution which increases the availability and manageability of the server environment.

Features & Benefits
Manageability
Cascading Capabilities An APC KVM Switch unit will support from one to eight attached computers, or channels. If more than eight channels are needed, multiple units can be cascaded together for expansion. Up to 2 tiers of units can be connected for a maximum of 64 attached computers in one system.
On-Screen Display (OSD) capability Configure and control your APC KVM Switch with on-screen menuing. Name your computer channels anything you wish, then select the desired computer from an easy-to-use menu. Secondary menus let you configure and initiate channel scanning and other system features.
Push button or keyboard switching In addition to using the on-screen menus, you can switch computer channels in one of three easy ways: via the APC KVM Switch channel push-buttons, with the Scan button or with a simple keyboard sequence.
Scanning Capabilities A built-in scanning feature allows you to automatically monitor, or scan, your computers without intervention. When keyboard activity is detected, scanning is suspended until all activity stops. Scanning then resumes with the next channel in sequence.
Status Indicator LED's Status scanning, and channel LED's take the guesswork out of system operation and diagnostics.
Availability
Hot Pluggable Operation Add additional servers without having to power off the switch or servers which are already attached.
Mouse Reset Feature APC KVM Switch's "Mouse Reset" feature allows users to regain lost mouse signals without having to reboot PC's and lose valuable data.
Keep Alive Feature APC KVM Switch's "Keep Alive" feature allows attached servers to power the unit in the event of a switch power failure. This prevents attached computers from locking up and keeps you from losing time and data.
Protection
Advanced Security Advanced bi-level security allows the administrator to set viewing and editing capabilities. The administrator has full access privileges; individual users can have viewing or editing capability for each attached server.
Compatibility
Microsoft Intellimouse support The APC KVM Switch offers full support for the Microsoft IntelliMouse.
Multi-platform Support Certain APC KVM Switches (AP9278 only) provide multiplatform capabilities by simultaneously supporting any combination of PC, Sun, and USB computers in the same configuration. AP9254 and AP9258 switches provide support for PC only.
