Overview for the Autoboot Commander 4XP:

The Most Advanced and Versatile Multiuser MultiPlatform KVM Switching System for Contemporary Server Room Management. Save Space, Enhance Control and Improve the Manageability of Your Data Center with the AutoBoot Commander 4xP.

Cybex expansion cables let you locate your computers and users wherever you need them most. Your computers don't all have to be in the same place, and you don't have to be in the same room to control them. Linked 4xP units can be up to 250 feet apart for maximum flexibility in your configuration. Users can be as far as 500 feet away from an attached computer and still have control.

With the integrated multiplatform and multiuser capabilities of the 4xP, network managers and their assistants can efficiently maintain even the most complex configurations form multiple points of control. Its modular design allows system administrators the freedom of running the system from their server room, computer lab or directly from their office desktops. Plus, hot-swappable components simplify system expansions and maintenance.

MultiUser
The AutoBoot Commander 4xP allows multiple users to control and operate different computers at the same time. System users can access any attached computer completely independent of the other users.

Multiplatform
The 4xP simultaneously supports any combination of PC, Macintosh, Sun, RS/6000, Silicon Graphics, DEC Alpha and Hewlett Packard computers. Use any platform's keybord, monitor and mouse to access any computer in the system, and switch seamlessly across platforms.

Scalable
Since the 4xP is modular, you buy only what you need now and add components as your system grows. Need more than 4 simultaneous users? Add a second 4xP unit with additional user modules. Adding another rack of servers? Just add computer cards. In fact, by connecting multiple 4xP units together you can have hundreds of users operating hundreds of computers within one 4xP system.

Flexible
Cybex expansion cables let you locate computers and users wherever you need them most. Your computers don't all have to be in the same place, and you don't have to be in the same room to control them. Linked 4xP units can be up to 250 feet apart for maximum flexibility in your configuration. Users can be as far as 500 feet away from an attached computer and still have control.

Reliable
The 4xP is designed for high availability. Its modular architecture lets you add or remove any server without powering down the switch or other attached servers. Plus, the optional redundant power supply eliminates a potential single point of failure.

Chassis & Module Diagrams for the Autoboot Commander 4XP:

PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Designing your own XP4000 system is easier when you break it down by components. All systems are made up of the same basic elements: an XP4040/4010 chassis, users and computers. An XP4040 chassis holds a maximum of 14 modules; a 1xP holds 5 modules. If you need more than one unit to hold all of your computers and users, then you will also have expansion modules in your configuration. For a step-by-step overview, see below.

THE SWITCH CHASSIS
All systems begin with the chassis. This unit holds all of your user and computer modules. Models are available in either desktop or rackmount style, with front or rear panel peripheral access and single or dual power supplies. Choose the chassis style that best suits your configuration.

  • 4XPR Rackmount unit, front panel interface
  • 4XPD Desktop unit, front panel interface
  • 4XPER Rackmount unit, rear panel interface
  • 4XPED Desktop unit, rear panel interface

USER MODULES

Next, select your user modules. You can have up to four simultaneous users per XP4040 chassis. Choose from either the basic or deluxe user modules below.

  • XPLU Basic user module supporting multiplatform keyboard, monitor and mouse.
  • XPDU Deluxe user module supporting advanced features such as on-screen management and two levels of security.

COMPUTER MODULES

Then, select a computer module for every computer you want to attach to your 4xP. Simply add the number of PC, Mac and workstation computers you have. Choose from either the basic or deluxe computer modules below.

  • XPAC Basic computer module for connecting computers to the XP4040.
  • XPAB Deluxe computer module supports advanced features such as Flash upgrade and optional individual power control.

EXPANSION MODULES

If your total number of computers and users is greater than 14, you can make use of our expansion modules. Connecting an expansion transmitter in one XP4040 unit to the expansion receiver in another XP4040 enables you to combine multiple units into one system. Transmitters and receivers are available in standard or category 5 UTP cable.

  • XPXT Standard expansion transmitter
  • XPXR Standard expansion receiver
  • XPST Category 5 UTP expansion transmitter
  • XPSR Category 5 UTP expansion receiver

MANAGING GROWTH

Now you've got all of the components necessary for multiple users to control multiple computers. So, what do you do if you want control from your office down the hall. Combine our expansion technology with another XP4040/XP4010 unit, and you can control all of your computers from hundreds of feet away!

REMOTE CONTROL
By adding a Key-View II to this configuration, you can remotely control any server in this system from anywhere in the world, even your hubs, routers and switches.
