KVM signals to a digital format, the DS1800 is able to send these

ADVANCED AUTHENTICATION

That's why the DS1800 relies on an Authentication service to determine
user access rights and establish communication between users and
DS1800 units. Simply describe the configuration of computers and
switches attached to the DS1800, then determine which computers
a user or group of users can manipulate. User names and groups
come directly from the Windows NT administration tools, eliminating
the need for redundant management systems.
