Product Overview
NS/Transfer
for AS/400 Access is part of NetManage's next-generation PC-to-AS/400
connectivity solution for Windows 95 and Windows NT users. NS/Transfer
is a high performance native 32-bit APPC or TCP/IP -based client
data exchange application that takes advantage of IBM's OS /400
and PC Support/400 running at the host, as well as NS/Router.
NS/Transfer
is designed for powerful functionality and ease of use. NS/Transfer
can perform upload and download queries between the AS/400 and PC.
It can perform functions such as joining data across multiple files,
specifying record selection criteria, grouping and sorting. The
download capability uses Structured Query Language (SQL) syntax
to query for specific data.
Data can be saved in a broad set of
files that are importable to desktop or server applications. Further
integration is possible using the binary-compatible IBM EHNTFW API.
The NS/Transfer application also supports importing of Client Access/400
and PCS/400 .TTO and .TFR files for easy migration from those environments.
KEY PRODUCT FEATURES
- True 32-Bit Application.
NS/Transfer for AS/400 Access is a native 32-bit APPC client application.
It is designed to allow Windows 95 and Windows NT desktops high
performance access to AS/400 data. It takes advantage of all of
the Windows 32-bit capabilities such as the multitasking, multithreaded
OS, as well as NS/Router SNA communications.
- NS/Router for AS/400 Access.
Works in conjunction with the NS/Router, the industry standard
Windows 32-bit APPC router. This high performance router supports
APPC sessions over multiple LAN and WAN links. In addition, direct
TCP/IP and IPX/SPX sessions.
- Multiple Host Connectivity.
Multiple, concurrent host data transfer is possible via the NS/Router.
This enables users to get access to multiple databases and allows
users to be more productive and proficient. Users can communicate
up to a maximum of 32 APPC sessions per AS/400.
- MAPI Support. Ability to
e-mail resultant data to other MAPI clients.
- Multiple Outputs Supported.
NS/Transfer for AS/400Access allows output results to be sent
to a display, to a printer, or to a file. Multiple output file
types are supported including ASCII, ANSI, DIF, DOS random, BASIC
sequential, no conversion, and Microsoft Excel 5.0 (BIFF5)
- Context-Sensitive Help. Detailed,
context-sensitive help is just a simple point and click procedure.
- AutoStart. Takes advantage
of NS/Router's AutoStart technology. Users can configure the NS/Transfer
application to automatically or interactively query the AS/400
database without having to know anything about underlying PC-to-AS/400
communications.
- Browse Capabilities. NS/Transfer
has built-in browse capabilities that allow users to browse AS/400
data bases, interactively build queries and test results.
- Statistical Display. Full
graphical statistical display provides users with useful data
progress information.
- Record Selection. Supports
extensive data operators such as <;>, <<, =, DATE(
), TIME( ), SUBSTR( ), BETWEEN ( ), ISNULL ( ), AND, OR, NOT,
COUNT, AVG, MAX, MIN and SUM.
- Sorting. Both ascending and
descending sorting options are supported on any database field.
- Database Synthesis. Supports
multiple file joining so users can tie together data spreads between
different AS/400 files.
- Format Options. Data transfer
can be set for specific TIME, DATE and TIMESTAMP formats.
- SQL Extraction. Uses Structured
Query Language (SQL) syntax to allow users to only query the data
they really need. This saves time by allowing users to quickly
focus on pertinent information.
- Save Configurations. NS/Transfer
configurations can be saved and reused for regular production
propagation of database information to clients.
- Migration Support. NS/Transfer
can import existing PC Support/400 or Client Access/400 .TTO/.TFR
files for easy migration from those environments.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- PC Platform. IBM compatible
80386, 80486 or Pentium PC with 8 MB of RAM or higher.
- Software. Windows 9x or Windows
NT and NS/Router.
