Global
Directory Services
Setting
New Standards for Information Storage, Access and Maintenance
The ISOCOR Directory Services
product family consists of a suite of shrink-wrapped products
and application tools that, when used in conjunction with ISOCOR
or third-party products, form a complete solution for enterprise-level
messaging and directory needs:
- Global Directory Server (GDS)
. GDS is a robust, high-performance LDAP server, combined with
a 1993 X.500 Directory System Agent (DSA) for storing, managing
and updating important directory information.
- Global Directory Navigator
(GDN). GDN is an easy-to-use, Windows-based tool for browsing
and administering GDS.
- ISOGATE DirSync Plus. These
directory synchronization products automatically propogate address
book updates between the various address books of different
messaging systems.
- Directory Import / Export Utility.
The Directory Import/Export Utilities facilitate the transfer
of data from third-party databases into and out of GDS.

- ISOCOR Programming Interfaces.
ISOCOR APIs , such as IDAL and third-party development kits,
such as ActiveX, simplify the development of complementary applications
by providing programming interfaces to directory information
stored in GDS. These tools are available from ISOCOR on a system
sale basis.
ISOPLEX
Secure,
Reliable Messaging
The ISOPLEX range of X.400 messaging
servers supports all the features expected by service providers
and large enterprises, available on a wide range of platforms
from Windows NT to multi-processor, fault-tolerant minicomputers.
ISOPLEX allows users and applications to exchange messages with
other systems that support either X.400 or Internet protocols
on private or public networks using LAN and/or WAN interfaces.
ISOPLEX supports exchanges via OSI and/or TCP/IP protocols over
X.25, APS, LAN and ISDN media.
Featuring the most powerful Management
Center in the industry, ISOPLEX combines the advanced communications
features of CCITT 1988/1992 X.400 with managed, sophisticated
message routing for reliable electronic transport of business
documents worldwide. ISOPLEXs powerful capabilities can
be directly accessed by applications using the XMC API, which
allows developers to build specialized X.400 messaging clients
without an in-depth knowledge of the technology. ISOCORs
intelligent routing engine works to find a reliable path for data-passing,
even when no direct server-to-server connection is available.
ISOPLEX on UNIX and Windows NT offers a robust Message Store which
can be accessed directly over LANs, WANs, dial-up and the Internet.

integrated messaging, directory and security solutions, using
cryptographic symmetric, asymmetric and hashing algorithms in
conjunction with key management and distribution from Certification
Authorities. ISOCOR components for messaging-enabled applications
can be used by any MAPI messaging client such as Microsoft Exchange,
Outlook or any MAPI-aware application.
ISOGATE
Plus
The
Gateway to Information Exchange
For organizations with integrated messaging needs that do not
require a high-end hub solution such as N-PLEX Hub, the ISOGATE
Plus range provides a set of connectivity modules and directory
synchronization components that meet straightforward departmental
needs. ISOGATE Plus provides feature-rich conversion between ISOCOR
backbone technology such as ISOPLEX
and N-PLEX and the prevailing messaging environments: Notes, Exchange,
cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail and the Internet.
The ISOCOR Management Center can
manage all ISOGATE Plus gateways and DirSync modules, either locally
or remotely, from a central location, allowing more effective
management and reducing administration costs.
The ISOGATE Plus range consists
of:
- ISOGATE Plus for SMTP/MIME:
Rich support for Internet standards such as MIXER/RFC 1327,
MIME (RFC 2046-7), uuencode (RFC 1154), and Delivery Status
Notifications (RFC 1891-4).
- ISOGATE Plus for Exchange:
Proxy addressing allows all Exchange users on a site to reach
X.400 and Internet worlds via a single gateway, rather than
needing connectors for each Exchange server.
- ISOGATE Plus for Lotus Notes:
Tunneling capability allows remote Notes sites to communicate
over a robust messaging backbone.
- ISOGATE Plus for Microsoft
Mail: Full support for Microsoft Mail features, plus simple
and flexible access to the messaging backbone and other mail
environments.
- ISOGATE Plus for cc:Mail: Links
directly to the Lotus messaging API (VIM), giving comprehensive
support for cc:Mail features and advanced address mapping.
Directory
Synchronization via X.500
ISOGATE DirSync Plus modules for
each ISOGATE Plus product synchronize local changes in address
books against an X.500 directory such as Global Directory Server.
This eliminates a universal drain on system administrator resources
and enhances effective corporate communications. DirSync for SMTP/MIME
also considerably simplifies the administrator's task by allowing
all the diverse messaging environments in an enterprise to be
represented under a single Internet domain.
Directory synchronization address
changes in cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail or Lotus Notes environments
are mirrored automatically via the X.500 directory. Sophisticated
filtering capabilities allow specification of included and excluded
address areas to be synchronized in either direction. All ISOGATE
DirSync Plus and ISOGATE Plus components are remotely manageable
with the ISOCOR Management Center, sharing configuration information
wherever possible and applicable.
