N-PLEX HUB
The Hub for Multiprotocol Messaging Systems
N-PLEX Hub is ISOCORs high performance,
multiport gateway solution for interconnecting common e-mail and
messaging systems within an organization. N-PLEX Hubs also interconnect
across local or wide area networks to provide a transparent, controlled
and distributed solution for large organizations. They may also
be used individuatlly for medium-sized business. In both cases,
full remote installation, configuration and monitoring can be
maintained from a central site via N-PLEX Hubs integrated
Management Center. As part of the N-PLEX family of products, N-PLEX
Hub can also be integrated with Internet or X.400 message servers
as well as many other ISOCOR and third party products to
provide a complete solution for most messaging problems.
An Ideal Solution for Expanding
Organizations
Messaging, including e-mail, reliable document transport, and
directory services, is no longer simply convenient - it is a mission
critical application. N-PLEX Hub is designed to meet the needs
of rapidly expanding organizations.
N-PLEX Hub provides the integration necessary
to creat an organization-wide messaging system when IT managers
in different locations (possibly even in different countries!)
have chosed their departmental mail systems independently. Interconnecting
all of these feature-rich applications with independent gateways
typically makes life a nightmare for system administrators. Support
staff are often run ragged supporting a range of gateways rom
different vendors and ensuring all the local address books are
kept up to date. In addition, Internet connectivity is becoming
mandatory for most organizations, and connection to public X.400
mail services is also required in many parts of the world.
What is clearly needed is a single solution with
rich gateway functionality, high levels of performance and reliability,
and capabilities that ease administration problems: rules-based
address mapping, automatice synchronization of disparate address
books, centralized remote management and remote installation.
N-PLEX Hub is that solution.
Maximizing Return on Investment
N-PLEX Hub provides a centralized management tool for all messaging
needs throughout the entire organization, slashes administrative
costs and enables you to get the most out of your existing investment.
Product features include:
- A single GUI-based Management Center for the
entire messaging backbone architecture
- Remote management of all system components
- Remote installation
Growing the Organization
As an organization grows, messaging becomes more and more mission-critical.
With a steadily growing number of applications available on the
market, connecting users and their applications in an easy and
cost-effective way is vital. Scalability is a key feature of the
N-PLEX Hub design. It handles your current needs and enables you
to deal with any guture expansion by adding support for additional
post offices or other connectors for IT departments which have
already opted for different messaging systems. N-PLEX Hub provides
you with core functions which transform and unify your electronic
messaging network:
- Advanced management via centralized and remote
configuration and installation using the ISOCOR Management Center
- Fully automated Directory Synchronization
Message Relay, using a messaging backbone connecting corporate
intranets by means of multiple N-PLEX Hub systems.
- Connectors for various proprietary mail systems
- Connectivity to Internet SMTP Messaging and
X.400 valut-added networks
N-PLEX Hub Benefits
N-PLEX Hub provides a wealth of benefits including:
- Lower costs. With the superior functionality
of the ISOCOR Management Center, there is no need to tie down
highly skilled people in ALL of your locations. A single person
can hangle corporate intranets of any size, freeing local IT
staff to do more productive work. Local proprietary mail systems
will still need to be natively configured, but all of your cross-company
intranet requirements are covered.
- Adaptability and ease-of-use. The connectors
for cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange
and SMTP and X.400, are easy to set up and can be used straight
out-of-the-box, or can be customized and fine-tuned to suit
your organizations needs.
- Improved performance and manageability are
achieved in a way that is transparent to users; all the end
users notice is that they can now reliably communicate with
different e-mail systems.
- Simplicity. With the Directory Synchronization
options, not only are all your conpanys internal users
of different messaging systems automatically updated into each
of the native address bookds, but your entire corporation can
appear as a single domain in the Internet community without
having to reflect a subdomain architecture for each of your
deployed legacy e-mail systems!
Larger organizations working with conventional
methods often need to maintain a subdomain architecture which
reflects the internal messaging environments when connecting to
the Internet. N-PLEX Hub allows you to get all of your corporate
users into one flat SMTP domain regardless of which native e-mail
system they are actually connected to. The benefit is that your
employees and customers can easily understand your addressing
schema. Should your users move from one internal mail system to
another, there are no modifications needed on your business cards
or corporate letterhead.
Address Mapping for Almost
Any Situation
N-PLEX Hub connects a variety of well-established proprietart
and open e-mail systems. The biggest challenge in integrated messaging
is translating address information from one format into another,
while simultaneously keeping the complexity away from the recipients,
so that they see only a single, transparent messaging environment.
N-PLEX Hub provides advanced address mapping,
including:
- Rules-based domain address mapping
- Uni- or bi-directional mappings
- One-to-one address mappings
N-PLEX Hub covers the entire range of e-mail address
conversion possibilities. N-PLEX Hub also comes with preconfigured
rules that cover 95% of addressing practices at typical customer
sites. Whether you use Clark, Joe or something more
complex such as Joe X. Clark (Factory Manager), you
can be sure you get sensible and returnable mapping. Cases not
covered by preconfigured rules can have customer-defined rules
adapted to handle them, or may simply be dealt with as exceptions
by one-to-one mappings.
Your users also want to be able to send messages
to users on different systems in particular the Internet
withouth having to bother the administrator to set up Internet
addresses, using a technique called blind-addressing
or business card addressing, is also fully supported
by all N-PLEX Hub connectors.
The ability to transport documents of any size
and type is also vital. N-PLEX Hub supports multimedia document
exchange of any type, size and number of documents between all
the connected e-mail systems. You can also backbone any kind of
information between multiple N-PLEX Hub servers shile maintaining
all the original messaging information.
Managing Address Book Synchronization
Filtering capabilities are important to a well-constructed Directory
Synchronization system. For example, the address books maintained
on your existing messaging systems may include a set of local
customer addresses that you may want synchronized to other offices
in the same region, but not to worldwide headquarters. The N-PLEX
Hub Directory Synchronization options provide an address book
synchronization mechanixm that allows for all systems to fine-tune
filters by specifying lists of recipients to be included in or
excluede from distribution for ease of management. Asymmetric
address book synchronization means that information updates can
be allocated between a number of e-mail systems, so that different
parts of an organizational unit are updated appropriately in specific
e-mail system address books.
Address book synchronization is mediated by the
Global Directory Server (GDS) which maintains a database of addresses
for the entire network. The database may be centralized on one
GDS server at a central location or may be distributed over several
GDS servers at the same or different locations. GDS provides an
efficient replication mechanism to provide increased performance
and reliability and to minimize intersite directory synchronization
traffic.
Compatible Products
N-PLEX Hub is compatible with other members of the N-PLEX product
family. N-PLEX Enterprise, N-PLEX Global and N-PLEX Office can
also be used to support directly connected Internet Mail clients
using POP3 and IMAP4. They are completely compatible and can be
installed, configured and monitored via the same ISOCOR Management
Center as N-PLEX Hub.
