The RightFAX
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Module
adds functionality to your RightFAX fax server software. It can be
used to convert images into text and as an additional routing method.
Faxes are received as graphic images
and are static and unchangeable. With the OCR Module, RightFAX can
automatically scan the graphic images for recognizable characters
and create dynamic, editable text files which can be imported into
any application for annotation.
OCR can also be used as a form of automatic
inbound routing in place of, or in addition to, DID (direct inward
dial), DNIS (dialed number identification service), DTMF (dual-tone
multi-frequency), or channel routing which may require extra phone
lines or extensions. After scanning the first page of each received
fax for pre-specified keywords - such as title, function, name,
department, or telephone extension - the fax server routes faxes
that contain matching keywords to associated fax mailboxes.
Unlike other OCR software which must
be installed on each workstation, the RightFAX OCR Module resides
on the RightFAX server, allowing every user on the network to process
documents while working on other tasks. And it can be used in conjunction
with other modules like the RightFAX E-mail Gateway to further automate
faxing.
Used as a text converter or as a supplemental
routing method, the RightFAX OCR Module adds unrivaled power and
flexibility to your fax server. So, whether you send or receive
10 or 10,000 faxes a day, RightFAX is the right fax solution for
your network.
Because it runs on the server,
the RightFAX Enhanced OCR module can convert faxes into dynamic,
editable text without tying up individual client workstations.
