EtherPower²
Dual-Channel PCI Ethernet Network Cards 10BASE-T and Combo Models
Two Network Cards in One for PCI Servers
SMCs dual-channel EtherPower² network cards provide
all the functionality of two separate Ethernet network cards
but take up only one slot in a Peripheral Component Interface
(PCI) server. For additional bandwidth, you get two independent
channels, each supporting its own 10 Mbps collision domain. This
enables you to segment your network while saving a slot in the server.
And, since the cost of one of SMCs dual-channel PCI network
cards is typically lower than two single-channel PCI network cards,
you also get economy.
Performance is superior, too. The PCI bus eliminates bottlenecks
by bypassing the traditional I/O bus and by providing a shorter
data path to the CPU than ISA or EISA buses. This enables the PCI
bus to offer a superior data transfer rate for PCI devices such
as LAN network cards. EtherPower² LAN network cards unlock the power
of the PCI bus. These 32-bit, high-performance network cards provide
bus-master burst mode transfers at speeds up to 33 MHz, with data
throughput at rates as high as 132 MBytes/second, resulting in low
CPU utilization.
EtherPower² network cards are auto-configurable for easy plug-and-play
installation. Just power up the PC and the job is done. Choose from
two models: a 10BASE-T adapter with dual RJ-45 connectors (for twisted-pair
cabling) or a combo adapter with dual RJ-45 connectors and dual
BNC connectors (for thin coax cabling).
