Server Technology Switched Zero U Outlet Power Monitoring PDU
Server Technology offers a wide range of CDUs (cabinet power distribution unit). The switched Per Outlet Power Sensing. (POPS) monitoring PDU combines network configuration and management with power distribution, environmental monitoring, and the ability to provide power monitoring for individual outlets/devices. Power information per outlet includes:
- Current
- Voltage
- Power (kW)
- Apparent power (VA)
- Crest factor
- Power factor
Remotely reboot a single or dual-power server with one command. The power monitoring PDU can also be configured to send SNMP or email-based alerts when power or environmental conditions exceed thresholds, and assign user specific access rights to designated outlets or groups.
Utilizing the grouping feature, power information is available per device (multiple outlets), groups of devices (applications), individual power monitoring PDU, cabinet, rows of cabinets, or the whole data center floor. Combining the switched power monitoring PDU with Server Technology's Sentry Power Manager software tool, you can cluster outlets and gain power usage information across multiple power monitoring PDU's individual IP address.
The switched power monitoring PDU has top entry for network, serial, and environmental connections combined with a bottom power cord entry. Current monitors are easily inverted via the web GUI or serial interface. This provides flexibility when connecting power a monitoring PDU to overhead power or busways.

Power Monitoring PDU Features
 |
POPS (Per Outlet Power Sensing)
Monitor Current Load (A), Voltage (V), Power (W), Apparent Power (VA), Crest Factor and Power Factor per outlet at an accuracy of +/- 2% |
 |
Fuse Retractors for Branch Circuit Protection
These tool-less retractors pull out for easy access and replacement of fuses. The Server Technology Sentry CDU Family meets the UL 60950-1 requirement for branch circuit protection. |
 |
Input Current Monitoring
Exclusive Digital True RMS current monitoring is critical to preventing overloads in high-density computing environments. LED digital display on the power monitoring PDU enclosure reports the aggregate current draw of the branch circuit. |
 |
Temperature and Humidity
The switched power monitoring PDU supports two external 10ft (3m) probes. Each of these probes measures both Temperature and humidity. Receive SNMP-based alerts or email notifications from your power monitoring PDU when conditions exceed defined thresholds. |
 |
PIPS - Per Input Power Sensing
Accurately measures active power, apparent power, energy k-wh, power capacity, reactance, and power capacity used using the network interface. See the aggregate current draw, in Amps, locally using the onboard LED. |
| |
Zero U PDU
The power monitoring PDU has a vertical enclosure that occupies Zero Vertical U of rack space in the equipment cabinet. They mount on the back rails or in the cavity space of the cabinet. |
| |
Add a redundant PDU
Connect an Expansion Cabinet power distribution unit to any POPS power monitoring PDU to control two power input circuits and manage outlets (individual or groups) under 1 IP address. |
| |
Network Access and Per Outlet Control
Individual or group outlet network access power control to cycle power and reboot any selected servers or other network devices. Use TCP/IP (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, Telnet, SNMP) or RS-232 to communicate with each power monitoring PDU and rectify locked-up network devices. Reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) a failing server by controlling individual power outlet receptacles to reboot any selected server or other device.
The POPS power monitoring PDU can also be controlled on a per outlet basis. Assign outlets to a group for control of dual-power supply servers and other gear with a single command. Create an unlimited number of groups with any combination of outlets associated to each group. |
| |
SNMP Management & Event Notification
The POPS power monitoring PDU supports SNMP. This allows network management systems to use SNMP requests to retrieve information and control power for the individual outlets. The power monitoring PDU includes SNMP v1 agent supporting standard MIB I and MIB II objects. A private enterprise MIB extension is also supported to provide network access power control. SNMP traps can be generated for various events. |
| |
Secure Access - SSH or SSL Protection
SSH is a Unix-based command interface and protocol for securely getting access to a network access device. The power monitoring PDU support SSHv2. SSL is a commonly-used protocol for managing the security of a message transmission on the internet. The power monitoring PDU supports SSLv3/TLSv1. |
| |
LDAP/LDAPS
The power monitoring PDU supports Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Version 3 including LDAPS (LDAP over TSL/SSL). This support enables authentication with LDAP servers. Administrators can pre-define and configure a set of necessary LDAP groups, and access rights for each group. |
| |
RS-232 Control
Serial control via any device with a bi-directional serial port, including a PC, laptop, KVM switch, console port access switch, or terminal server. |
