Product Description
The Model 236, G.703 to RS-232/V.35 Interface Converter, allows a synchronous
device, RS-232 or V.35, to communicate over a G.703 network.
The Model 236 accepts data and clock signals and formats them for transmission
onto a G.703 network. Data will only be encoded if the enable (DCD or
RTS depending on the mode) coming from the V.35/RS-232 device is asserted.
Data and clock signals are provided to the Model 236 from the synchronous
interface. The clock is used to synchronize the converter, while the
data is encoded into an AMI format for transmission to a G.703 network.
Data received from the G.703 is checked to make sure that it is in the
proper format as required by the G.703 specification. If the data is
in compliance then a Data Valid signal (RTS or DCD depending on the
mode) is asserted and the received data is decoded into data and a clock
to be presented to the V.35/RS-232 device that it is connected to the
Model 236. A provision is included to allow the user to switch select
the source of the clock to the synchronous device. The clock source
can be a clock derived from the received data or the transmit clock
of the synchronous device.
