Product Description
The Model 243 interface converter performs a full duplex conversion
from X.21 to RS-232. Data rates are accommodated from 0 to 256 KBPS.
The Model 243 converts Transmit Data, Receive Data, Request To Send,
Data Carrier Detect, and Transmit Clock.
The Model 243 includes Telebyte's DataSpy LCD display and a DTE/DCE
switch thus making the 243 adaptable into any X.21 network. The DataSpy
LCD display provides the user with status information regarding the
operation of the converter. The LCD is useful during installation and
functional checkout whenever there are suspected problems. The graphic
display presents the user with live status of the transmit and receive
data signals, TD and RD, and control signals CTS, RTS, DSR, DCD, and
DTR.
Power for the Model 243 is derived from the data input and control signals.
In addition, the X.21 port is protected from surges. Internal jumpers
are provided to allow connection of Receive Clock to Transmit Clock,
and Clear To Send, and Data Sent Ready to Data Terminal Ready. Also
provided are terminating resistors, 120 ohms, which can be selected
for terminating the X.21 receiver circuits.
