Product Description

The Model 269 is a compact RS-232 to RS-232 opto isolation module that complies with the IEC requirement for medical electrical equipment of withstanding 4000 Volts AC for one minute. The Model 269 provides this level of isolation for TD, Transmit Data, RD, Receive Data, and Ground. This capability is further enhanced by not requiring any external AC or DC power. The Model 269 derives its power from the transmit data signals applied to each port.

The primary RS-232 port is a DB-25 male connector. In addition, the primary port may be configured as a DTE or DCE device. The secondary port is configured in an RJ12 six position modular jack with pins 3, 4, and 5 being Transmit Data, Receive Data, and Isolated Ground respectively.

The advent of new regulations as per IEC 601-1, control the usage of electronic equipment in medical environments. As such compliance with these new regulations is a world wide problem for equipment manufacturers. Telebyte's Model 269 solves this problem by guaranteeing compliance with the specification not only for isolation but for creepage and clearance. In addition, each unit is 100% tested to verify the dielectric voltage withstand capability. A label is applied to verify testing and preventing tampering with a device after testing.
