Product Description
The Model 282 Async RS-232 Opto Isolator provides complete full duplex,
including all async control signals, electrical isolation between
two
RS-232 devices. The isolation is achieved using opto couplers thereby
guaranteeing complete isolation between systems. This isolation will
decrease both hardware and data errors caused by surges, electrical
interference or differences in ground potentials of the two systems
to be connected. The Model 282 also provides a line driving capability
whose performance yields data transmission over 1,000 feet (330 m)
of
cable at a data rate of 19.2 KBPS. Maximum data rate is 64 KBPS. All
inputs and outputs are protected against surges by the inclusion of
avalanche diodes. Four different power options are offered. The standard
unit is supplied with a 110 Volt AC, 60 Hz wall mounted adapter. As
an option a 220 VAC, 50 Hz adapter is available. For those applications
involving a telephone central office the Model 282 can be supplied
for
operation from -48 Volts DC or ±24 Volts DC.
