Product Description
Now you can really break the distance barrier of Ethernet based Local
Area Networks. The addition of a pair of Model 376's allows your LAN
to be extended to a distance of 38 Km, (over 9 miles).
The Model 376, 10Base-T to single-mode fiber transceiver, provides the
operating solution at 1550 nm, one of the wavelengths required for WDM's.
The Model 376 in combination with a two channel WDM allows the mixing
of multiple LAN traffic, or, the combination of LAN and video, CATV,
T1/E1 or any other data source that can be provided at 1310 nm. These
two wavelengths are utilized by most low cost WDM's which expands the
utilization/bandwidth of a single fiber pair. The Telebyte Model 381
is such a device.
LAN's can be spread to other buildings and facilities. When this is
attempted with coax wires and repeaters there is usually concern with
electrical interference from other equipment, ground loops, surges and
lightning which may strike in the vicinity of the cable link. These
potential problems all disappear with the Model 376 since the connection
between the server and workstations is single mode fiber optic cable
which is impervious to all of these disturbances.
A group of five LED's provide indication of Fiber Optic Link Monitor,
Twisted-Pair Monitor, Collision, Traffic and Power. An SQE switch ensures
compatibility with both old and new Ethernet adapters by allowing the
user to enable or disable the SQE Heartbeat option.
The Model 376 operates with all LAN's that run at 10 MBPS and comply
with IEEE 802.3 specifications for 10Base-T ports.
