Product Description

The Series 377 Media Converters are designed to convert 100Base-T Ethernet signals, for twisted pair copper transmission, to light pulses appropriate for single-mode, duplex fiber optic transmission. These devices allow maximum utilization of the 100 MHz bandwidth. There is virtually no retransmission for lost or errored packets.

The signaling utilizes full duplex communication to eliminate the response problem in collision sensing. This is a major innovation since the response time over a long fiber optic network may exceed those normally allowed in half duplex communications.

100Base-T inputs are handled via the industry standard RJ-45 connector. LED indicators display the status of the fiber and copper circuits as well as an indicator of power.

The Model 377SC is the standard unit. This offers 100Base-T compatibility and 100 MBPS full duplex over single-mode fiber at 1310 nm. It employs an advanced Fabry-Perot laser with full IEC 825 and CDRH Class 1 eye safety. The Model 377SC provides operation over 33 km using SC connectors. The Model 377ST uses ST connectors.

The Model 377ST-1 offers the same functionality, but with improved performance, allowing operation over distances of 90 km (56 miles) of single-mode fiber using ST connectors.
All units are packaged in metal containers whose size is 2" W x 3" L x 1" H (50.8 mm x 76.2 mm x 25.4 mm). Power is supplied from a wall adapter that produces 12 VDC.
