Product Description
The Model 570 Short Haul Multiplexer increases the efficiency of data
links and twisted pairs, by allowing simultaneous data transfers between
sixteen devices. Each Model 570 has eight RS-232 ports that can support
terminals, printers, computers, or other custom systems. The composite
port features a built-in line driver with the ability to communicate
over 5,000 feet of twisted pair. An internal switch and jumpers allow
changing the configuration to support composite link distances of 8,000
feet and maximum per port data rates of 9.6 KBPS.Performance is outstanding,
providing simultaneous 19.2 KBPS operation, end-to-end, on all eight
channels. Each port supports full duplex data and one control signal
in each direction. The typical configuration is DTR and DCD, however,
these connections can be easily changed using the supplied adapters. The
Model 570 does not require any configuration setup. Each channel can
operate at its own data rate, up to 19.2 KBPS. Different speeds in each
direction are easily accommodated. If the environment for the composite
link is severe, i.e., direct lightning strikes, then the Model 270 can
be used with the Quick Mux to change the twisted pair to fiber optic
cable.
Diagnostics
Built in diagnostics include local loopback and remote test switches.
Local loopback loops input data on itself after being processed by the
570 Quick Mux. The Remote Test switch sends a pattern down to the remote
570. Upon detection of this pattern, the remote 570 automatically loops
back the composite link. The originating mux activates its Remote Test
indicator upon correct reception of the looped back pattern. These two
tests establish the operational status of the complete 570 and the composite
link.
