Product Description
The Super Mux has four terminal ports, each of which can simultaneously
operate full duplex at any terminal speed up to 38.4 KBPS. Each port
of the Super Mux carries full duplex data and a full duplex control
signal.Remote terminal clusters are supported over distances of 1500
feet at 38.4 KBPS and 5000 feet at 19.2 KBPS. The maximum speed/distance
is controlled by an internal jumper. The composite link for the Super
Mux consists of two twisted pairs with built-in surge suppression.Operation
of the Super Mux is transparent to user data. There are no switches
to set and each port may be operated at different rates and data format. The
Model 575 comes with four 25-foot cables and male or female connectors
for the RS-232/RS-423 I/O connections.
Diagnostics
Built-in diagnostics include a local loopback switch and a remote test
switch. The local loopback loops terminal data back on itself after
being processed by the 575 Super Mux. Remote Test sends a test pattern
down the composite link to the remote 575. When this pattern is detected,
the remote 575 performs an automatic loopback of the composite link.
The originating mux activates its Remote Test indicator upon correct
reception of the looped back test pattern. These two tests establish
the operational status of the complete 575 and the composite link. The
Super Mux incorporates separate Transmit and Receive data LED indicators
for each of the four ports.
