Managing remote networks just became easier with the RSS-81 remote segment
switch. Now you can automatically connect a PC or network analyzer to
UTP Ethernet or Token Ring segments for diagnostics or fallback. The RSS-81
can also be used for on command re-routing of phone or data
lines to alternate or backup equipment.
The RSS-81 is controlled via an RS-232 command port which is used to
control which segment is connected to the common device or network analyzer.
When used remotely, the command port can be connected to a modem, terminal
server, or any other device capable of sending an RS-232 command sequence.
All 8 of the RJ45 jacks are switched, so re-routing of either analog or
digital data is also a common application for the RSS-81.
