The Avocent Manageability Solutions Group (AMS) was created by combining the responsibilities of OSA Technologies and the Avocent Embedded division to focus on the Embedded Virtual Presence Infrastructure (eVPI) market. AMS delivers unique benefits to Avocent by integrating eVPI with appliances and management consoles. Combined, these leadership positions in embedded management strengthen Avocent's market, increasing value to all customers.

Server administrators need to be everywhere, all of the time. Vendors are meeting that challenge with remote management technologies to help them maintain 'presence' across the organization. Typically however, these products do not interoperate. They also create additional costs to purchase and maintain. Avocent offers solutions that provide management from anywhere, anytime with "virtual" technology that empowers a remote administrator with the same capabilities as if they were right next to the server. This 'Virtual Presence Infrastructure' (VPI) reduces many of those management costs across a multi-vendor environment. However, there is also a need to tightly integrate this external appliance and software infrastructure with the embedded server management world. This is the strength of Embedded VPI (eVPI). eVPI is an embedded software and hardware management platform that helps customers reduce cost and increase operational agility by harnessing Out-of-Band (OOB), IPMI, KVM and other embedded management technologies.
