AVTECH Installation Note

Room Alert Flood Sensor Cable

The Flood Sensor Cable provided with Room Alert is ‘Volt-Free’.

Instructions For Installing The Flood Sensor Cable

Decide on a suitable location for the Flood Sensor Cable. Areas to consider are locations where a previous water problem occurred or around the base of an important server. The Flood Sensor Cable should not be located in a high traffic area where it might be stepped on or damaged.

Lay the Flood Sensor Cable in the desired location and connect the wires to the Room Alert ID Box. Low cost “bell wire”, telephone cable, or data cable can be used to make the connections between Room Alert and the Flood Sensor Cable. There is no voltage polarity associated with the connections on the Flood Sensor Cable provided by AVTECH Software.

Start PageR Enterprise to begin monitoring the Room Alert ID box. Test the Flood Sensor Cable by pressing firmly on the test button (see below). This should create a “false” flood alarm. Regular testing of the Flood Sensor Cable is recommended every month to insure proper operation, especially if you suspect that damage has occurred to the Flood Sensor Cable.

After the complete system is operating properly, install the Flood Sensor Cable hold down clips to keep the cable in the desired location and out of harms way.

If a leak is detected, Room Alert will send an alarm to PageR Enterprise for proper alert notification based on your setup. The alarm will continue until water has been evacuated from the area or PageR Enterprise halts notification. The Flood Sensor Cable is re-usable once it is thoroughly dried out.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

THE SCREW CONNECTORS ON THE SENSORS AND ROOM ALERT INTERFACE (ID) BOXES ARE VOLT-FREE CONTACTS ONLY. DO NOT CONNECT THESE TERMINALS TO ANY LIVE CIRCUIT. A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN MUST TEST ANY WIRES YOU CONNECT TO THE ROOM ALERT PLUS ID BOX FOR THE PRESENCE OF ELECTRICAL VOLTAGES AND IF ANY ARE DETECTED, THEY MUST NOT BE WIRED TO THE ID BOX. THE ID BOX MAY BECOME DANGEROUS IF YOU CONNECT IT TO A LIVE CIRCUIT. DISCONNECT THE SENSOR INTERFACE FROM THE PC BEFORE WIRING ANY SENSORS TO IT. NEVER CONNECT MAIN POWER TO ANY OF THE ROOM ALERT SENSORS.
