APPLICATION DIAGRAM

AB-32 Application Diagram

DESCRIPTION
The AB-32 is normally used at a distant terminal or PC to regenerate the return RS-232 signal back to the POLLED RS-232 device, or other asynchronous RS-232 modem sharing devices. It is used when the standard RS-232 driver in the terminal cannot drive the return distance because of extended cable distance. They may also be used in pairs as 3-wire asynchronous short haul modems.

The AB-32s employ CPS's "Super Serial Driver". It can accommodate RS-232 signals up to 2000 feet over Unshielded Twisted Pair cable.

The unit can be equipped with male or female DB-25 connectors and RJ-11 or RJ-45 connectors. LEDs on the unit monitor the Transmit and Receive data signals.

NOTE: The FEMALE DB-25 connectors are pinned as DCE for direct connection to terminals and the MALE DB-25 connectors are pinned as DTE for direct connection to modems.

USE ON THE FOLLOWING RS-232 NETWORKS

  • Asynchronous Point to Point
  • RS-232 Signal Regeneration
  • RS-232 Signal Driver
