It has a separate 9VAC transformer power supply so it is not dependent on the power state of the PC. It independently shadows the power and should be connected to the same AC source as the PC.

The APB installs in a vacant opening on the back panel of a PC (no card slot is required) and cable connects to the AC power button. The "push delay time" and the "push duration" are selected in an eight-bit dip switch on the APB.

I-APB (Intelligent Auto Push Board)
The I-APB includes the basic APB functions. Additionally, it can also be controlled by any of the CPS external Remote Reboot Controllers (x-RRC). It is also addressable so multiple units can be daisy-chained from the same controller. Up to 32 two unique numeric character addresses can be entered into the dip switches. Other addressable CPS Base Units such as the IPN (AC Power) can be intermixed within the "daisy chain". The physical connections are made with standard telephone cables through the additional "upstream/downstream" RJ-11 connectors on the I-APB.

The I-APB also has a connection for the PC's Reset if available. There are separate controller commands for the Power and the Rest Button connections.

The Controllers provide addressable access to the I-APB via telephone lines or a TCP/IP network. Compatible controllers are:

• SP-RRC and 3P-RRC (Touch-tone telephone line interface).
• N-RRC (TCP/IP network interface).
• An RS-232 Serial Port adapter is also available which allows a PC to be used as a controller to issue commands to the I-APB through its serial port.

I-APB-HB (with the Heartbeat Function)
The HB version includes all of the previous functions. It externally connects to the serial port of the target machine and will automatically reset the computer when it hangs. No outside intervention is required. A self-administrating Windows based software utility that runs on the target machine to control the serial port, is supplied. The HB function can be used independently or in combination with any of the previous functions. A "Y" adapter for downstream controller connections is also supplied. A DLL that allows you to link an application to the HB feature is also available.
