FTS incorporates many of the functions found in many of CPS's larger products, but in a smaller less costly package.

The FTS can be connected to its own dedicated telephone line or be shared with an established phone or fax line when only occasional use is required. It answers the line and presents a false ring to the caller while it carries out the caller's port selection and other control commands.

The caller can enter the port switching and control commands through any Touch-Tone cordless, cell or wire-line phone. They may also be appended to a modem's AT dial command. Up to a 6 number password may also be designated. It can be easily changed locally or remotely.

The two alternate "switched" ports may have modems, faxes or any standard analog devices connected to them. Calls without the proper access code may be aborted or switched to the "Default port" in the sharing mode. By enabling the automatic fax recognition feature, calls may also be automatically switched to a fax machine. All of these features are under program control. A power failure results in all lines being connected through.

Outbound Line Sharing
FTS can also be used as a sharing switch for outbound calls. Any of the devices on the three ports can bid for the telephone line, if available. All other stations are isolated when the line is in use. A PRIORITY Interrupt feature is also available. It disconnects any call in progress and presents a dial tone to the requesting device. This may be used for equipment that places alarm calls. Or all outbound calls may simply be disabled.

Programming
The unit can be programmed locally or remotely, using a standard Touch-Tone phone.

Optional AC Power and Reset Control
Each of the ports can also support an optional CPS Base Unit that can be remotely controlled through additional Touch-Tone commands.

The optional Intelligent AC Power Strip has six AC outlets. 2, 4 or 6 of those outlets may be designated as "controlled outlets" at the time of order. The others may be used as "normal" AC power strip outlets.

This can be used in maintenance applications to recycle the power on equipment that may be hung or simply to power up a PC or a modem for remote access.

Similarly, the two alternate ports can connect to the reset pins on the PC's motherboard enabling the caller to reset the PC from the remote location. An optional PC-RJ Cable Assembly is required for each PC.
