- facilitates a secure end-to-end connection to remote equipment. The software performs user Authentication and Authorization at a centralized point before allowing the connection to proceed. A full Audit trail of all activity by users or remote devices is kept.
When a user connects to Eclipse SAMS, they are prompted for their username and password. Once authenticated, users are provided with a list of equipment that they are authorized to view. When a device is selected, the user is transparently connected to it without seeing the methods, telephone numbers, passwords, or any other critical information that allowed the connection to be made. The software can handle connections using IP networks, public Internet connection, or PSTN modem dial-up connection. Telnet or PPP sessions are used to communicate with remote devices. |

If a user leaves an organization, it is only necessary to delete that users account in Eclipse SAMS and not change passwords at remote sites. This provides a great cost saving to the enterprise or equipment maintainer.
Through the web-based interface, Eclipse SAMS also makes it easy for administrators to quickly and easily add, edit or delete:
- Users or user groups.
- Sites or remote devices.
- User privileges.
- Connection methods.
- Remote device passwords.
- Device logon / logoff scripts.
The software implements a flexible and easy to use scripting language, which supports initialization and log-off scripts and the automatic navigation of multiple equipment levels and passwords in a single connection session.
