PowerVision Software

Business continuity carries a greater urgency than ever, because nearly all workers require access to technology to do their jobs. That’s why Eaton delivers not only uninterruptible power systems (UPSs), but also management systems that continually monitor entire networks of UPSs and other data center elements.

PowerVision UPS Software

PowerVision power management software is the solution for the progressive system administrator or facility engineer who needs local or enterprise-wide monitoring of multiple UPSs and/or other power components supporting mission critical applications.

PowerVision comes in two different packages, each one tailored for its own unique application:

PowerVision Network Edition provides remote monitoring and computer operating system shutdown for multiple single-phase UPSs and small-to-midrange three-phase UPSs, from Powerware and others—using industry-standard SNMP communications and integration with popular network management systems
PowerVision Facility Edition provides one-line detailed UPS information, monitors system status of other elements in the critical power distribution system —such as generators, static switches, power distribution units (PDUs), and air conditioners through alarm contacts—and supports in-depth reporting, analysis, and graphics

PowerVision Enterprise Manager serves a unique role as an optional enhancement to either edition—providing an enterprise-wide view that spans multiple PowerVision systems across your organization.

PowerVision Features and Benefits
Maximum system availability drives all innovation in power technology. While well-engineered UPS hardware, redundant power systems and advanced battery technology have made great strides toward zero downtime, the final piece of the availability puzzle is advanced communication to identify and eliminate potential vulnerabilities to critical systems. With PowerVision power management software, constant system availability can be a reality.

PowerVision’s advanced features include:

  • Data/trend analysis helps predict, and prevent, power-related events that can compromise system availability. PowerVision can graph up to 20 traces or channels simultaneously to determine cause-and-effect relationships between recorded events and corresponding pieces of equipment. PowerVision is also capable of projecting historical data into the future so that users can envision potential scenarios. All of this functionality translates to predicting and preventing failures in data centers and networks.
  • True client/server architecture allows you flexibility and control for monitoring the power throughout the network.
  • Database archive stores up to six months’ worth of data. This data is used in conjunction with the graphing and analysis tools to identify trends to predict potential vulnerabilities to the power systems.
  • Alarm management select from a wide range of alarm notification methods, including audible alarms, a dialogue box that is prominently displayed on the screen, and a stoplight color scheme that shows any problems and their severity. Channels that are in an alarm state can be sorted so that you can manage alarms with maximum efficiency.
  • Message management provides an intuitive approach to assigning UPS events to appropriate actions. The configuration tool can be deployed on both the client and the server. Action messages include: e-mail, network broadcast, alpha/numeric paging and SNMP traps.
  • Web-enabled access enables the UPS status to be monitored from any standard web browser, anywhere in the world. This allows flexibility in response to alarm pages, emails or other conditions.
  • Multitasking server allows all operations to occur simultaneously while all devices and channels are being monitored.
  • Multiple remote monitoring connections allow the server data to be viewed at anytime from anywhere. Connections are made via a TCP/IP connection on the local area network or through dial-up networking.
  • Optional ModBus gateway furnishes an interface for use with the Modicon ModBus® protocol to provide current data for selected devices. Employing a serial connection to the server, the PowerVision Modbus gateway allows selective reporting of critical channels to supervisory systems such as a Building Management System (BMS). All interactions are initiated by the BMS and take the form of a query-response transaction with PowerVision server, where the device data resides.
  • Optional SNMP virtual agent can send SNMP traps to a variety of network management systems (NMS) for alarm notification to a centralized location.
  • Intuitive client interface provides graphical tools such as icons, buttons, menus and "hot keys" to make navigation simple. Equipment renderings are incorporated into each equipment view to give a high degree of familiarity to users. One-line diagrams are used to convey the operational status of the UPS
